Three beaches, three atmospheres in south Finistère
A well-known seaside resort in south Finistère, Bénodet stands out for the variety of its coastline. Within just a few kilometres, three beaches with very different personalities follow one another: the lively, family-friendly Trez beach, the wild and protected Letty lagoon, and the rocky, secluded Pointe Saint-Gilles. Only ten minutes' drive from Fouesnant, Bénodet offers a complete seaside getaway, enriched by heritage, a thalassotherapy centre and cruises along one of the most beautiful rivers in France.

Le Trez beach: the heart of the resort
Le Trez beach is the best-known face of Bénodet. A long stretch of fine sand facing due south, it offers an open view across to Combrit Sainte-Marine on the other side of the Odet estuary. It is the quintessential family beach: lifeguard-supervised in July and August from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, it was awarded the Blue Flag in 2024 and the Handiplage label in 2025, with a beach wheelchair available for visitors with reduced mobility.
When it comes to facilities, Le Trez has everything you need: nearby car park, free showers, toilets and changing cabins. Along the seafront, bars, restaurants, shops, the casino and the thalassotherapy centre are all within walking distance. A children's club welcomes youngsters in season, and several operators offer watersports directly on the beach (kayak, paddleboard, catamaran).
Water quality is rated Excellent based on 14 samples taken in 2025.
Le Letty: a wild lagoon facing the Glénan
In stark contrast to the bustling Trez, Le Letty beach offers a completely different landscape. Sheltered by a dune ridge and dense vegetation, this natural lagoon faces the Glénanarchipelago. The water is calm and shallow, ideal for sailing, paddleboarding and windsurfing.
Le Letty has received the Blue Flag for the third time, recognising the efforts to preserve this fragile ecosystem. Water quality is rated Excellent based on 8 samples. A car park is accessible on the Pointe Saint-Gilles side, with drinking water and toilets on site.
Please note: this beach is not lifeguard-supervised. The dune environment is fragile, so please stick to the marked paths to protect the vegetation.
Pointe Saint-Gilles and its coves
Between Le Trez and Le Letty, Pointe Saint-Gilles juts out into the sea, revealing a rocky shoreline dotted with small coves. It is a favourite spot for shellfish gathering: at low tide, the rocks uncover rock pools teeming with shrimps, winkles and crabs. The mood here is wilder and more contemplative, far from the bustle of the town centre.
Free parking and beach access
Address: Plage du Trez, 29950 Bénodet
Bénodet has free car parks spread across the resort: town centre, harbour area and near the beaches. Some spaces in the town centre are in a blue zone (disc required), but most car parks near the beaches are unrestricted.
From Fouesnant, it is roughly 10 minutes by car.
Dog rules
The rules in Bénodet are stricter than in neighbouring towns. Dogs are banned all year round on most beaches. There are only two exceptions: Le Coq and Saint-Gilles beaches, where dogs are allowed from 31 October to 1 May only.
Water quality and lifeguard supervision
All of Bénodet's beaches have water quality rated Excellent by the Regional Health Agency (14 samples at Le Trez, 8 at Le Letty in 2025).
Le Trez is the only lifeguard-supervised beach in Bénodet, with a first-aid station operating in July and August from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. At the other beaches, swimming is at your own risk.
Casino, thalassotherapy and cruises on the Odet
There is far more to Bénodet than its beaches. The resort offers a full range of activities:
- Bénodet Casino: slot machines, gaming tables and a restaurant with sea views
- Relais Thalasso: sea-water circuit, hammam, sauna and massages overlooking the ocean
- Odet river cruises: the Odet is often described as one of the most beautiful rivers in France. Guided cruises head up the estuary past châteaux, manor houses and dense woodland
- Monday market: every Monday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, local producers and artisans
- Coastal path: roughly 4 km linking the tip of Bénodet to Le Letty, with stunning views over the Odet and the Glénan archipelago
Restaurants and crêperies by the sea
Bénodet's seafront is packed with great places to eat:
- L'Effet Mer: restaurant facing Le Trez beach, crêpes, galettes, moules-frites and cocktails. Terrace with sea views, 160 covers. 6-8 avenue de la Plage. Open 7 days a week in season.
- Crêperie La Mouette Rieuse: traditional Breton crêpes made with local produce, a stone's throw from Le Trez beach. 26 avenue de la Plage.
- Les Pirates de la Pointe: seafront restaurant, bar and crêperie. Breton cuisine, burgers, live music in the evening. Relaxed atmosphere.
