White sand with views of the Glénan
Nestled on the coastline of Beg Meil, Kermyl beach is one of those spots that only regulars know about. There are no crowds and no commercial distractions here: just a stretch of pristine white sand, remarkably calm water, and the Glénanarchipelago as a backdrop. Access and parking at Chemin de Kerlosquen
Address: 4 Résidence des Dunes, 29170 Fouesnant (Beg Meil area)
Kermyl beach lies within the commune of Fouesnant, in the Beg Meil area. You reach it via the Chemin de Kerlosquen, a small coastal lane that winds down to the shore through coastal vegetation.
A free car park is right next to the beach, with bike racks for those arriving on two wheels. Getting there is quick and easy, but the car park is small: in peak season, it is best to arrive in the morning to be sure of a space.
Dogs on the beach: rules
Dogs are not allowed on Kermyl beach from 1 June to 30 September. Outside this period, dogs on a lead are welcome on the sand. The coastal path along the shoreline is open all year round with your four-legged friend.
Calm swimming and rock pools at low tide
Kermyl beach is not lifeguard-supervised, so swimming is at your own risk. The water is generally calm and shallow near the shore, making it a pleasant spot for family swimming, provided you take care.
Check the tide times before your visit: at high tide, the strip of sand narrows considerably. At low tide, the foreshore opens up into wide expanses of sand, ideal for a stroll and for shellfish gathering. The rocks framing the beach form natural pools where you can spot small marine creatures and seaweed.
Picnic facing the Glénan archipelago
Kermyl is one of the few beaches in the area with picnic tables set just steps from the sand, some of them shaded by the surrounding vegetation. It is the perfect spot for lunch by the sea: galettes, fresh seafood from the market or a simple sandwich, the panoramic view of the Glénan turns any meal into something special.
Public toilets complete the facilities on site.
Nearby coves and the coastal path
Kermyl beach sits at the heart of a coastline rich in coves and beaches. Following the coastal path south, you will reach the many coves of Beg Meil : La Roche Percée, Crique des Oiseaux, Bot Conan and Lantecoste. Heading north, the path leads to Cap Coz and its long stretches of sheltered sand in the Baie de la Forêt.
Les Dunes beach is 300 metres away and Kerambigorn beach is 500 metres: in a single day's walk, you can easily visit several coves.
