The largest beach in Trégunc
Kersidan Beach is the main beach in Trégunc. Almost 2 kilometres of white, fine sand stretch out towards the open sea, framed by granite boulders along the shoreline and Breton countryside behind. It is an open, south-facing beach with outstanding views of Île Raguénez and Île Verte offshore. On a clear day, you can even spot the Glénan archipelago on the horizon.

Free parking and access
Kersidan Beach has three free car parks, all within 100 metres of the sand. The main car park sits alongside the coastal road, with direct access via a sandy path. In peak summer, spaces fill up by mid-morning, so aim to arrive before 10:30 AM or in the late afternoon.
By car
From Trégunc, follow signs for "Pointe de Trévignon" then "Plage de Kersidan". From Concarneau, allow 12 minutes along the D1 coastal road. From Fouesnant, allow 30 minutes via Concarneau.
By public transport
BreizhGo bus line 45 (Quimper, Concarneau, Trégunc) serves Trégunc town centre. From the bus stop, Kersidan is 3 km away, easily reached by bike. Timetables and fares at breizhgo.bzh.
Visiting with your dog
Dogs are not allowed on Kersidan Beach from 1 June to 30 September (local by-law). Outside this period, dogs are welcome on or off the lead. Horses are banned from 1 April to 30 September. Fine for non-compliance: €38.
Summer alternative: the GR34 coastal path running alongside the beach is open to dogs on a lead all year round.
Swimming safely
Kersidan Beach faces due south, giving it plenty of sunshine and water that warms up faster than on west-facing beaches. Sea temperature reaches 19 to 21 °C in July and August, sometimes higher during prolonged warm spells. The beach is lifeguard-patrolled in summer (July–August, hours posted on site, typically 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM).
Water quality is monitored by the ARS (Regional Health Agency) throughout the summer with fortnightly samples. The rating has consistently been "Excellent". The water is calm and shallow for the first few metres, well suited to children. When the south-westerly sea breeze picks up in the early afternoon, larger waves build on the western end of the beach, popular with surfers and windsurfers.
Kersidan holds the Handiplage label: a hippocampe beach wheelchair is available free of charge on loan from the Concarneau Cornouaille tourist office. The beach is not affected by green algae: the Trégunc coast, facing the open sea, is largely spared.
Check tide times on maree.info. At high tide, the beach narrows but remains usable. At low tide, the rocky foreshore reveals natural pools perfect for shellfish gathering (winkles, shrimps, small crabs).
Île Raguénez, accessible on foot
From Kersidan, you can clearly see Île Raguénez offshore, between Trégunc and Névez. This small private island is only accessible on foot at low tide, roughly three hours either side of the tidal peak. The owner allows visitors to walk around the island provided they respect the natural environment. The island reveals a rich marine ecosystem: colourful seaweed, crabs, sea anemones and seabirds.
To reach the island from Kersidan, follow the GR34 coastal path eastward for about 20 minutes (1.5 km) to the Île Raguénez crossing point. Always check the tide times before crossing.
Kayaking, windsurfing and kitesurfing
The Kersidan watersports centre opens in summer and offers lessons and hire for windsurfing, sea kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. It is the most accessible kitesurfing spot in the area: when the south-westerly sea breeze picks up in the early afternoon, conditions are ideal. The beach is also a great starting point for paddleboarding towards Île Raguénez.
A hippocampe beach wheelchair is available free of charge on loan from the Concarneau Cornouaille tourist office (Handiplage label). A children's club also runs during the season.
